CEDAP clearly was an "early adopter" of Pachamama Raymi. At the end of the eighties it had became very aware of the fact that it needed to achieve more. Its operations were centered in Ayacucho, a region with the ultra-violence often associated with despair and extreme poverty. Something needed to be done urgently. The director of CEDAP had heard about Pachamama Raymi and decided that this methodology promised to be what they were looking for. The core staff of this small NGO made the grueling journey to Cusco early 1991, to visit the communities where PRODERM had worked, and to meet with Willem van Immerzeel. Packed with new hopes, they sat out what was to become an example for many, including such major projects such as MARENASS. Years later, in 2007, they prepared this report (pdf) Mid 2008, an interesting report shows strong arguments "to believe in a future for the Andean population". |
