Replicability and "scaling-up"
The methodology Pachamama Raymi was designed in Peru, in a rural development project of the European Union (PRODERM). At the end of this project, several European experts who had worked on this project introduced Pachamama Raymi in similar large projects in several countries (see: In practice):
Humberto van der Zel, Willem van Immerzeelin Guatemala, Chile, Bolivia, etc. in projects funded by the European Union. Some of these projects worked in hundreds of rural communities.
Roberto Haudry de Sousy introduced Pachamama Raymi in projects financed by IFAD, in Peru and Bolivia. In this case, it was attempted to combine the methodology Pachamama Raymi with a peculiar element of the FEAS project, where the project donates cash to rural communities so that they can hire their own farmer experts.
Pachamama Raymi is also being used in an increasing number of scenarios. It started in rural areas, to improve irrigation, and later to improve crops and animal husbandry. Pachamama Raymi is currently being used in urban areas, preventive health and to improve small and medium sized industries at national level (as in Chile).
The dissemination of the methodology is encouraged by DEXCEL through its web-site and a series of publications and videos. |
